UNION - Helen McSwain Childers, 67, of 3669 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway died Jan. 23, 2000, in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness.

A native of Lockhart, she was daughter of the late Lee McSwain Sr. and Maude Vanderford McSwain. She was a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Vernon Childers; three daughters, Martha Nichols of Chester, Mary Lanier of Lockhart and Melinda Childers of the home; a son, Daniel Childers Sr. of Union; two brothers, Roy McSwain and Arvell McSwain, both of Union; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home in Union. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Richard Conners and Paul Childers. Burial will be held in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
