Mrs. Meitner was born on February 5, 1902 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Henry and Catherine (Hovel) Popp. She attended Rock Township schools and married Oscar Meitner on February on February 22, 1927 in Osage. They farmed west of Osage until retiring in 1962 and moving to Osage. Mr. Meitner died in 1984.
She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of Sacred Heart Guild Volunteer Group in Osage.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Marcella) Voight of Osage and Mrs. Mel (Darlene) Elliott of Storm Lake; two sons, Leo of Osage and Gerald of St. Ansgar; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Popp and Mary Pelleymounter, both of Osage; and one brother, John Popp of Osage.
