Perpignan Air Disaster 3rd June 1967

In this crash a DC4 airliner belonging to a company called " Air Ferry " crashed into a mountain to the South West of Perpignan in France .
The plane was carrying 5 crew and 83 passengers for whom this was the first part of a 15-day package holiday.

Later it was found that the aircraft was a long way off course .
Though the cause was never established it was found that the pilot and co-pilot had high levels of carbon monoxide . It was thought that fumes from a faulty cockpit heater had perhaps overcome the crew.

All 88 people on board were killed .

22 of the dead were buried here in Brookwood Cemetery .
