A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Anna Jane Mentz Cooper will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1220 Tioga Road, Ball, Louisiana with Father Steve Brandow and Deacon L.G. Deloach officiating under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mrs. Cooper, age 77 of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria following a brief hospitalization.

Anna Cooper was born in the Hudson Valley of New York where she made her home until she married her husband, Jack H. Cooper. His USAF career took them from New York to Tampa, Florida; Alaska; and then to Louisiana. In later years, she divided her time between Pineville, Louisiana and Washington state.

Anna Jane was very active in her church and was known for her many charitable activities. She was a member of the Carlow Choir of Alexandria, Louisiana and traveled overseas with the choir for concert performances. She was well-known for her gumbo and corn chowder, which she served at her church every year.

She had a life well-lived and took great delight in her family and friends. She enjoyed many activities, especially reading and knitting. Traveling in the United States and Europe was another of her joys; especially to Rome, Italy to sing at the Vatican.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack H. Cooper; parents, Ezra Y. Mentz and Anna Cumpon Mentz; siblings, Ezra Y. Mentz (Marion), Christina M. Mentz Salinovich (John), Harry Mentz (Betty), Beatrice Mentz Nugent (Robert) and Martin Mentz.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jack H. Cooper, Jr. (Sylvia) and James Cooper (Becky); grandchildren, John B. Cooper, Brittany M. Cooper and Anthony Cooper; nieces, nephews and her brother-in-laws, Bob and Stanley Cooper and their families.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
