Helen M. Mentz Faleski, 93, formerly of West Oak Street, Shenandoah, and The Birches at Shenandoah Manor, passed away early Monday morning at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah, Sept. 20, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Chobey Mentz.

Helen was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

She was a retired garment worker, having in the local garment industry.

Helen was a member of St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens, Polish Ladies Social Club, the Polka Belles and past president of the ILGWU Retirees Club, all of Shenandoah.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Faleski, in September 2001; a brother, Albert Mentz; two sisters, Isabel "Bella" Rutkowski and Josephine McGrath.

Surviving are her son, Hank Faleski and his wife, Julie, Turkey Run, Shenandoah; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Casimir Church. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. There will be no services held at the funeral home. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
