Margaret H. (Merrick) Elliot, 75, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died late Friday morning, October 28, 2016. She was born and educated in Springfield, a daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Mason) Merrick and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce Class of 1959. Margaret was employed with the former Monarch Life Insurance Company in downtown Springfield for over twenty years retiring in 2001. She loved listening to country music especially Gene Autry and Roy Rogers as well as the Maguire Sisters music. Margaret also enjoyed watching films starring John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe. She was an avid knitter and square dancer and was a New England sports enthusiast who followed the Patriots, and especially the Red Sox. She is survived by her loving daughter, Tracy H. Lemoine and her husband Keith of Springfield; two loving sons, Michael S. Elliot and his wife Cathleen of Middletown, CT, and Timothy F. Elliot and his wife Ruby of Springfield; a sister, Laurie Burt and her husband David of Green Cove Springs, FL; 8 grandchildren, Julie, Stephen, Derek, Sarah, Kevin, Mason, Wyatt and Andre; and 2 great-grandchildren, Shane and Jordan; a niece, grandniece, grandnephew and great-grandniece. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday morning, November 3rd, from 11 AM '96 12 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield, followed by a Funeral Home Service beginning at 12:15 PM. Burial will conclude in the Elliot family lot in Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, in Springfield, followed by a gathering at the family's home.
