"Catherine Mesner Burnett passed away peacefully at age 93 on June 18, 2017.

She was born in December of 1923, to Arthur and Helena Mesner in Klamath Falls. Catherine had a rich life. She met Amos Burnett, the love of her life, while attending Klamath Union High School and married him in May of 1942.

Catherine was a school secretary for much of her life, working in both Oregon and California. For recreation in her younger life, she and Amos built a cabin at the Lake of the Woods in Oregon and enjoyed boating and water skiing. In California, they joined an RV club, then took up golfing and square dancing.

After retiring in 1985, they moved to Brookings and continued golfing and fishing. Catherine worked at the Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center for many years, which she loved. She and Amos also enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises.

She was very social and made many friends throughout her life. She will be missed.

She is survived by husband Amos Burnett of Brookings; son Robert Burnett of Laytonville, California; daughter Katherine Peterson and son-in-law Stanley Peterson of Los Banos, California; grandson Riley Burnett and his partner Seychell Gomolicke of Willits, California; great-grandson Jett Burnett of Willits; sister Pauline Mitchell of Portland, and nieces Ruthe Putnam of Portland, Lerri Deedon of Morro Bay, California and Paula Johnson of Portland; and many nieces and nephews in the Burnett family.
A memorial is being planned. "
