Dolores Dasher, 94, of Buckingham’s Choice, MD, died Thursday, July 13, 2017. Born in Paterson, NJ on August 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Johnson) Milholland. She was the loving wife of Walter Dasher with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.

Dolores lived and worked in Paterson and Hawthorne, NJ. She went to St. Joseph’s Hospital, became a nurse, and worked as a Stewardess for TWA airlines. She worked as a school nurse at School #12 in Paterson, received a Masters Degree from Rutgers University, and then became the Supervisor of Nurses for the Paterson school system. She supervised nurses in 49 schools ensuring the good health of all students in the Paterson school district. Dolores served on the Paterson school board and instituted improvements in inoculations and health education throughout the school district. Dolores was a working mother and a model to other younger career women.

After working in the Paterson schools for more than three decades, she and her husband Walter retired and moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1990. They resided there for over 20 years before moving to Buckingham’s Choice in Adamstown to be closer to their family.

Dolores is survived by her son Paul Dasher of Ridgewood NJ, and her daughter, Melissa Gallagher of Adamstown, MD. Her husband, Walter, and youngest son James predeceased her.

Dolores has been a loving and encouraging grandmother to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. As a result of her inspiration, patriotism and motivation, five of her grandchildren have been to college and one is serving in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. No matter where her extended family lived (New Jersey, Indiana, Washington, DC, San Diego and South Korea), Dolores attended all of her grandchildren’s Baptisms, First Communions, and Confirmations.

Dolores was a devoted member of three parishes, St Anthony in Hawthorne, New Jersey; Holy Cross of Vero Beach, FL; and St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor, Adamstown, MD. A Mass of Remembrance will be held there on Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 am. Internment will be at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.
