Frances (Milholland) Bucher May 30, 1919 – December 20, 2010

Frances (Milholland) Bucher, age 91, of Molina, Colorado, went home to be with her Lord on December 20, 2010. She was with family in the home where she was raised.

Frances was born in Collbran, Colorado, to Herbert Ray Sr. and Nina Bell (Skinner) Milholland on May 30, 1919. She grew up on Georgia Mesa (above Molina, CO) with picturesque Grand Mesa as her playground. She graduated from Collbran Union High School in 1937.

On January 8, 1943, she married Ortis Bucher in Kimball, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2007.

She began her long teaching career inside the same rooms where she attended school growing up on Georgia Mesa. Her teaching career continued to the eastern plains of Colorado, then to Nebraska and Wyoming and then returning to the western slope of Colorado. Her teaching experience spanned from young people in one room schools, to small and large student bodies, and included a time with students at the Job Corp. In 1974, she received an Honorable Certificate for Colorado's Teacher of the Year.

She had a strong faith in God and loved her Lord for all of her life. She enjoyed simple pleasures - teaching Sunday school, Bible study, serving her church, reading and giving to others. She was a member of several churches over her lifetime, most recently Molina Baptist Church and Hidden Hills Baptist Church in Willow, Alaska.

Her favorite place on earth was sitting on the front porch and watching the beautiful Colorado sunsets. She also enjoyed watching the deer and wild turkeys that crossed the pasture above the ranch house.

Frances was also preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Ray Sr. and Nina Bell (Skinner) Milholland; four brothers, Herbert Jr., Gordon, Howard, and Stewart, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her sister, Helen (Ernest) Chapman and sister-in-law, Donna Milholland. She is also survived by four children, Nina (Bill) Knuppel, of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; Kathy (Arnold) Ufford, of Vernal, Utah; Wesley Bucher, of Molina, Colorado, and Sheree (Rick) Melton, of Willow, Alaska. Frances has 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Molina Baptist Church, Tuesday December 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation time from 1 - 2:00 p.m. prior to services. Burial will take place at the Mesa/Molina Cemetery following services.

The family wishes to express gratitude to all the caregivers of Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, and Carol that assisted our Mother in these last months. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
