Mary K. Cannon, 85, died peacefully Tuesday, March 29, 2016.
Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 3:00PM at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverends Anthony McPhail, Deborah Wallace and Chip Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Saturday from 2:00PM until 3:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 735 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.
Mrs. Cannon, daughter of the late Laurence and Ouida Miller, was predeceased by her former husband, Charles Cannon, and her sisters-in-law, Marguerite Miller and Pat Miller.
She was a graduate of Glynn Academy and attended Wesleyan College. Mrs. Cannon was a charter member of Riverside United Methodist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School and taught Disciple Bible Study. She served on numerous church committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Cannon was the founder of the House and Garden Club in 1955 and served as president on five different occasions. She was a member of Heart of Georgia Walk to Emmaus Community and the Morning Glories Reunion Group.
Mrs. Cannon is survived by her daughters, Carey McPhail and Mary “Cisty” McArthur (Steve), both of Macon; grandchildren, Anthony McPhail (Emma) and Alex McArthur, both of Macon, Brooke Davis (Kyle) of Marietta and Kelly Jungberg (Jason) of Forsyth; great-grandchildren, Jackson Davis, Caroline Davis, Daniel Jungberg and William Jungberg; brothers, Laurence Miller, Jr. of St. Simons Island, Georgia and Burr Miller of Waycross, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.
Hart’s Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
