Genevieve Christensen Mody
1917 ~ 2010
Our mom, Genevieve Mody, passed away peacefully at her son Jim Biesinger's home in Spanish Fork on February 9, 2010.
Genevieve, 93, was born January 6, 1917 in Logan, Utah to Axell and Margaret Christensen. Her early childhood was spent on a farm in Torrington, WY. Her family moved to Midvale where she graduated from Jordan HS. She attended the University of Utah before moving to Chicago. There she met and married Wilford Biesinger on December 19, 1941. He was a medical student at Northwestern University. They were sealed together later in the Logan Temple. Wilford and Genevieve moved to Springville where they raised their 5 children. They later divorced. Genevieve married Raymond Mody in 1974. They eventually moved to St. George where Ray passed away in 1981. She continued to live in St. George until she moved to Spanish Fork to live closer to family.
As a youth Mom liked hiking with her friends and playing basketball. When she was a young mother she worked at the Springville Medical center with her husband. She was involved in women's social clubs. She took flying lessons. She loved to garden and she loved watching the Utah Jazz. She developed an interest in genealogical work and name extraction
She was preceded in death by her sister Afton Sorenson, her brother Homer, and her oldest son, Donald. She is survived by her son Jim (Marianne), daughters Susan Lewis, and Esther Biesinger, son Gerald (Marlene), and daughter-in-law Carol Biesinger. She has 18 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
We wish to thank Missy, Kellie, Dena, Matt, Jody, Marilyn and Monica at Alpine Hospice for their years of kindness and attentive care. Thanks also to Lori for being willing at the drop of a hat to come to assist in any way at any time: To Kevin for his kind attention and friendship and to Bev, in house hair dresser par Excellent, companion and friend.
