Mel was born December 2, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Frank and Lucille (Allison) Monaco.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, she was employed as an administrative assistant prior to her retirement.
Mel enjoyed music, traveling, and reading. She treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a caring and giving person, mentoring young people through her church, and acting as a youth leader. She will also be remembered for making the world’s best spaghetti sauce.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Brady; son, Scott (Kim) Brady; daughters, Kim (Neil) Robinson and Alison (Hal) Hackbarth; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Mel was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucille Monaco; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Pauline Brady; three brothers; and one sister.
Services will be held at NewLife Church, 6036 NE 12th Ave, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2016, and funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Interment will take place at Rising Sun Cemetery at a later date.
