Born Nov. 26, 1924 in Weyanoke, he was the son of the late Albert and Lilly Cole Moore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jack Lynn Moore; two brothers, Matthew Moore and Charles Moore and one sister, Beatrice Jenkins.
Mr. Moore served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Princeton Church of God and a former member of Weyanoke Church of God. He was a faithful church member and loved being involved in the church and enjoyed participating in church tour groups. Along with his wife, he was the former owner and operator of Moore's Market in Weyanoke and Lashmeet. Mr. Moore retired from Consolidated Coal Company in 1986.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Irene Spencer Moore of Princeton; one son, William Moore and wife Nancy of Princeton; one daughter, Yvonne Blankenship and husband Paul of Princeton; two grandchildren, Tammy Flinchum and husband William of Princeton, and David Blankenship and wife Melissa of Princeton; the apples of his eye, his great grandchildren, Lindsey Flinchum, David Flinchum, Alaina Blankenship and James Blankenship; one brother, Jerry Moore; four sisters, Virginia Rice, Ann Murphy, Shirley Stackler and Emalene Gray; and special friends and caregivers at Cassell's Board and Care.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007, at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Stella Falvo and Pastor Fred Farley officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park mausoleum in Princeton.
