Ruth was the daughter of Dan & Mary Moore and the grand-daughter of Andrew Moore and Ruth Gossett. There is a church record of her family in Granville Massachusettes. Fred and Ruth Bacon were living in Hannibal New York and then Southport before joining the Wisconsin Phalanx in 1845.

Fredericks brother, Hudson Bacon was one of the founders of a investment company called the Western Emigration Company they raised enough money to start a settlement called Pike, later called Southport known as Kenosha today. The Company dissolved Dec 1836. In 1845 Ruth and Fred Bacon joined the Wisconsin Phalanx and moved to Ceresco (Ripon).

Fredrick made a profit on his share after the Phalanx dissolved in 1850 ..Frederick owned a 40 acre farm in Ripon.
