Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Juanita Elizabeth Moorehead Bates, age 70, died October 31, 1993 at her home, with her loving family around her.

Born to Harvey and Alice Henderson Moorehead, January 20, 1923, in Nowata, Oklahoma. Married John Claudius Bates on December 3, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He preceded her in death, January 28, 1988.

Acts of Christian service endeared her to her family and friends, she was a good neighbor. She was a secretary for the FBI and for the Salt Lake County Sheriff.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Thomas Vuyk; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Madelon Bates; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and their wives, Robert and Doris and Albert and Judi Moorehead of Salt Lake City; and sister, Denzel Probert, of Costa Mesa, Calif.

In keeping with her wishes, a family graveside service will be held Wednesday at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East, in Sandy, Utah. Friends may gather from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Primary Children's Hospital, 100 North Medical Drive, SLC UT 84108.
