Carol (Downing) Cox Morano, age 64, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017. Born and raised in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late George and Ruth Downing, she had been a lifelong city resident. Carol graduated from Central High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Boston College. She worked in various nursing positions over her career including Bridgeport Hospital, area convalescent homes, and private duty nursing. Carol loved animals of all kinds, but above all else, loved spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished so much. Survivors include four beloved children, Timothy Cox and his companion, Dawn O’Brien of Orange, Christy Cox-Schneider of Ansonia, Caitlin Mark and her husband Kevin of New Haven, and Leah DelVecchio and her husband Michael of Branford; three cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Schneider, Xavier Sanchez and Michael DelVecchio. She was predeceased by her brother, David Downing and her beloved German Shepherd Lars. Friends may greet the family Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A service celebrating Carol’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
