Sarah A. "Sadie" Birdsong, 71, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in Memphis. She was born on Jan. 3, 1942, in Grenada to Gus Morgan Sr. and Hazel Jones Morgan. She was a retired beautician and a life-long member of Elliott Baptist Church. She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends, especially her two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Elliott Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Weston "Birdie" Birdsong of Grenada; one daughter, Beth Hood, of Grenada; and two grandsons, Franklin Hood, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Wes Hood of Grenada. She is also survived by two brothers, James E. "Boo" Morgan and Lewis J. Morgan, both of Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Elizabeth "Sis" Nail; and three brothers, Gus Morgan Jr., Billy Raymond Morgan and Raymond Croxten.
The family requests that memorials be made to Elliott Baptist Church, 566 W. Nat G. Troutt Rd., Elliott, MS 38926.
