Hope DeOn Morrison Bastian Christensen, age 86, died February 27, 1997 in Provo, Utah.

She was born on May 29, 1910 in Monroe, Utah, a daughter of William and Zina Cox Morrison.

She married Sidney Bastian on February 16, 1934 in Salt Lake City.

In June of 1936, their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1983. On November 27, 1987, she married LaVon Christensen in the Boise LDS Temple.

He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1996.

She graduated form Monroc High School in 1928 and attended Utah State Agricultural College for one year and one year at BYU.

She received her BA degree at Northwest Narzarene College in Nampa, Idaho.

She taught school in Aurora, Monroc, and Richfield, Utah and Highline Elementary, Lone Tree School and Kuna elementary schools in Idaho. She retired at the age of 63.

She was a member of the LDS Church serving in many positions, including the stake MIA presidency, stake Junior Sunday School coordinator, and stake Primary board.

She also taught early morning seminary and serve as a ward library specialist. She served four temple missions in the 1980's, Oakland, Boise, Manti, and Provo.

She was a member of the DUP, Cedar Ridge Camp.

She was a member of the Nampa LDS Literary Group and Nampa Century Club.

She enjoyed dancing, traveling and attending wedding receptions.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Richard Bastian, Barry Bastian, both of Nampa, Idaho; Morris Bastian, Boise, ID; Sue Gardner of Colorado Springs, CO; Rochelle Clark of Sandy; 34 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her only sister, Ilene Webb.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 1997, 2 p.m. at the Pleasant View 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 2445 North 650 East, Provo.

Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center, on Sunday evening, 6-8 pm. or at the ward chapel on Monday, one hour prior to services.

Interment, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at the Kuna City Cemetery, Kuna, Idaho.
