Opal Edlin Barton, age 88, died January 25, 1998 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

She was born March 25, 1909 in Oak Creek, Utah to John Lisbon and Eunice Titcomb Mower.

Opal married Edward Stephen Barton, Oct. 9, 1929 in Salt Lake City; Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He died June 24, 1977.

Opal was an accomplished seamstress and cook.

She enjoyed crocheting and assisting her husband in ranching.

She worked as a waitress and was a supervisor at a sewing plant.

For years she was a foster mother to many children.

She was active in the LDS Church serving in various callings.

Opal was a loving and caring friend to all she met, especially those in need.

Her family was her most prized possession.

Survived by sister, Fonda Mower Bentley, Salt Lake; son, Jack Douglas Barton, Altamont; and daughter, Mrs. Duane (Edlin) Monk, Leadville, CO; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, in the Fairview, Utah 3rd Ward, 131 East 100 North.

Friends and family may call Wed. 7-9 p.m. at the Ursenbach Funeral Home, 96 No. 100 West, Mt. Pleasant. and Thursday at the church, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Fairview Cemetery.
