Ida Mae Adams died peacefully in her sleep at Uni-Healthcare in Raleigh, NC on January 31, 2011 at the age of 90 years old. She was born in Patterson, New Jersey on February 16, 1920. She was one of four children born to Ida and Clayton Mower. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Clayton Mower, her brother Clayton Jr., and her sister, Eunice Hamm.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Gail and husband Gary Lewis of Cary, NC. She is also survived by the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Tracy and husband, Todd Rankin, and their daughter, Haley, Mae's great-granddaughter of Raleigh, NC; as well as one sister, Helen Edwards of Hernando, Florida. She is also survived by her niece and nephews in New Jersey; and several cousins in Saugerties, NY.

Mae worked as a secretary at Fort Monmouth, NJ in the 1940's. In 1954 she joined IBM in Poughkeepsie and was part of the team a couple of years later who opened the IBM Kingston facility. Mae was an executive secretary working primarily in the legal office for IBM in Kingston. She had many IBM friends and enjoyed having lunch with them. She retired in 1984 after 30 years of service with IBM. She was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and a member of the First Congregational Church in Saugerties. After living many years in Kingston and Saugerties, she relocated in 2002 to Woodland Terrace in Cary, NC to be near her daughter and granddaughter. Mae loved to crochet and made many beautiful items for her family and friends. When not crocheting, she loved playing the piano and doing the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzles. Her favorite place to be was by the ocean.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Corner of John and Lafayette Streets, Saugerties. At Mae's request, there will a private graveside service for the family. It will take place on Saturday Feb. 19, 2011 at the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Saugerties.
