Father of Martha Moxley, who was murdered in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1975 at 15 years old. The murder was the subject of two books: "Murder in Greenwich" by Mark Fuhrman, and "A Season in Purgatory" by Dominic Dunne.

David Moxley, who was recently appointed managing director of the Manhattan law firm of Lord Day & Lord, Barrett Smith, died of a heart attack Monday at his Manhattan home. He was 57 years old.

From 1982 to 1985, Mr. Moxley was managing partner of Touche Ross, the international accounting and management consulting concern. He left to become a senior adviser to United States Senator Robert Dole, Republican of Kansas.

Born in Atchison, Kan., Mr. Moxley earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Kansas. He joined Touche Ross in 1958. He was a former director of the New York Public Library, New York City Opera and the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Centennial Foundation. He was also a former chairman of the board of trustees of Manhattanville College.

Surviving are his wife, Dorthy; a son, John, of Manhattan, and a sister, Mary Jo Rahatz of Overland Park, Kan.
