Jean Moxley Brown, 76, of Axton, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.

Jean Moxley Brown,76, of Axton, VA, died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born on April 17, 1932 in Axton, VA, to the late James Samuel Moxley and Ethel Powell Moxley. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by three daughters, Harrell Lynne Riggs, Sarah Collins and Angela Parks; three sisters, Lois Brown, Sadie Hurd and Iris Hairfield; three brothers, James Moxley, Marvin Moxley and Douglas Moxley and one grandson, James (Robby) Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Brown of the home; one daughter and son in law, Lu Ellen Hampton and Randall Hampton of Axton, VA; one sister, Ruth Wilson of Axton, VA; four grandchildren Angela Martinez, Ashley Ward and her husband, John Ward, Jared Collins and his wife, Brittany Collins and Larraine Collins; two great- grandchildren, Daniella Martinez and Elizabeth Vires.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Brown Family Cemetery, Axton, VA with Pastor Sidney Turner officiating. The family received friends Monday evening, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home of her daughter, Lu Ellen Hampton, 2771 Mountain Valley Road, Axton VA.
