Sophia MUELLER was born in Germany April 29, 1839. She came to America in 1864, coming direct to Colon, and all her subsequest life has been spend in Colon township.
She was married to Frederick CUSTER, June 4, 1865. To them nine children were born, of whom eight are living: Charles, Mrs. Emma GROTH, William Frederick, Mrs Minnie ADAMS, Mary, Lizzie, and Mrs. Lydia PETERS. Henry, the only one who has passed over the river, died when but two years of age. Mr. Frederick CUSTER, the father and husband, died June 4, 1909.
This dear old mother has been an invalid for six years, but was confined to her bed for only the last week of her life. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church in her childhood and has lived a devoted life. Her children rise up and call her blessed.
She was called home on Sabbath morning, Mary 29, 1910, aged 71 years and one month.
The funeral was held from the M.E. church in this village, Tuesday afternoon, May 31st, at 3 o'clock, Rev. C. L. Beebe of Mason, assisted by Rev. J. C. Cook, officiating, with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
CARD OF THANKS. - We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness during our bereavement, also those who furnished the beautiful flowers, the choir for their choice selections and the ministers for their kind words spoken.
