Geneva “Gen” L. Bartoszewski, age 79, Ogema, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 24 hours.

She was born on March 29, 1934 to Audree and Opal (Johnson) Mundell in Hannibal. She attended Hannibal Grade School and was a 1952 graduate of Hannibal High School where she was Salutatorian.

After school, Geneva worked at Benton Harbor, MI, for one year, came home and married Alfred M. Bartoszewski on June 20, 1953 at Hannibal Presbyterian Church.

She worked at a boat factory in Tomahawk in the fabrication department; at Larson Pallet in Ogema in production; the locker plant in Ogema and Great Northern Cabinets as a door sander. All during this time, Geneva worked alongside her husband and owned and operated a small dairy farm. Geneva enjoyed reading, gardening and raising flowers. She pitched for the girls and boys high school baseball league while at Hannibal High School. Geneva pitched fast pitch softball for the Women’s Softball League in Ogema until the age of 53. She was also Ogema Centennial Queen in 1976.

Geneva was a member of Ogema Baptist Church; a member of the Deaconess Board and taught Sunday school for 34 years. She sang in the church choir at Ogema Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred M. Bartoszewski of Ogema; children: Beverly (Terry) Younger of Ogema, Roger Bartoszewski of Ogema and Barbara (Brian) Kilty of Unity; sisters: Roberta Kuester of Rhinelander and Dolores (Raymond) Jaeger of Gilman; sister-in-law, Diane Mundell of Milwaukee; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Gary Mundell; and sisters, Gale Mundell and Doris Anderson.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Ogema Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Price officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in Ogema.

Pallbearers were Terry Younger, Brian Kilty, Tim Floyd, Perry Anderson, Robert Peterson and Darrin Polzin.
