She is survived by her four children and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles A. Murphy and Susan (Netta) Murphy (nee Williams), and husband Robert W. Barber, Major, U.S.M.C.
She was known for her kindness, generosity, selflessness, compassion, quick wit, great sense of humor, loyalty, creativity, amazing detective skills (affectionately known as "The Crime Nurse," taken from one of her favorite movies, "Without a Clue"), love of animals, and above all, love of God, family and country. She was inspirational.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In tribute to her, her son Alan Ram established a foundation that carries on her legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Janeen R. Barber Foundation at www.JaneenBarber.org. The website will be available February 13, 2014.
