Mrs. Jo Alspaugh passed away on August 19, 2017, at the age of 94. She was born July 22, 1923 to Frederick and Amanda Murphy in Akron, Indiana, the youngest of four daughters. She married her high school sweetheart, Foster D. (Joe) Alspaugh. Upon his retirement they moved to Watkinsville, GA where they resided for almost 30 years. She was the loving mother of three children, Frederick Alspaugh, Arlyss Brown, and Dana Blair. Jo was an active member in her church, and sang in the choir for 57 years, She and her husband were founding members of A.C.T.S (Area Churches Together Serving), a local charity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and son Frederick. She is survived by her two daughters, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to A.C.T.S. through Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. Lord and Stephens, West is in charge of arrangements.
