Rachel Nader Farrah died at Alterra Sterling House in Venice, Florida on October 30, 2006 age 91
Born in Waterville, Maine on September 18, 1915 to Nassef & Emily Nader the second of 6 children. The family moved briefly to New Castle, PA before settling in Warren, Ohio. Rachel attended St. Mary's School then began working at Sunlight Electric as a motor winder for manufacturing of Packard Automobiles. This employment was instrumental in helping to support the growing family after the depression. In 1945 she joined the Army as a member of the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and was stationed at Ft. Myer, VA outside of Washington, D.C. While in Washington, she met Mitchell R. Farrah and they were married in 1947. They lived in Washington until moving to Silver Spring, MD in 1957.
She worked briefly as a beautician then started her career with the Maryland State Employment Office where she worked until retirement in 1982. During this time, she raised three children and for a time, two of her granddaughters. Her husband died in 1966. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Silver Spring. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and a dedication to her family.
On Monday, October 30, 2006 of Silver Spring, MD and more recently of Venice, FL. Wife of the late Mitchell R. Farrah; mother of Emilie F. Kawas, Mitchell L. Farrah and Robert J. Farrah; grandmother of Dawn Zambrano, Michelle Morris, Mischere and Joiem Kawas and Renee and Monica Farrah; great-grandmother of Michael and Talia Zambrano; sister of Paul and Robert Nader, the late Joseph Nader, the late Louise Khourey and the late Genevieve Shaker. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
