One of the most gracious women has left us. ANNE NEALE BARRET, loving mother and wife, supportive sister, and pioneer died on July 30th, 2007, in Oakland, California. She was 85. Born June 4, 1922, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Sterrett Neale and Lessie Sheets Neale, Anne was happily married for 53 years to Duane S. Barret, who preceded her in death in 1998. They were parents to four children, Ellin, Carol, Neale and Janice, and had six grandchildren. Anne had a full and productive life, earning her B.A. from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. She wed Duane on June 3, 1944, raised her four children, served as a hospice volunteer, was one of the first women to be elected Elder at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana, Calif., and was the first woman moderator of the Los Ranchos Presbytery. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Neale Tate, of Charleston, W.Va.; her cousin Daphne Sheets Jeffers of Huntington, W.Va.; her children, grandchildren, and extended family across the country.
