Erma H. Schumann Froehlich
Erma H. Schumann Froehlich, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2005 at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena.
Erma was born on July 24, 1911 in Lewiston Township, Columbia County, the daughter of Robert and Albatina "Tina" (Schultz) Nehrlich.
She was united in marriage to Fred Froehlich on May 7, 1957 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Friesland.
Erma's "green thumb" began as she worked for her brother at Nehrlich's, Edgewater Green House in Portage. She also was a seamstress and in later years sewed Barbie doll clothes. Erma loved to play cards, dance, garden and visit with family and friends. Her children were her pride and true joy.
Funeral services for Erma will be held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 7 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville. Pastor John Unnasch will officiate. Burial will be at the Silver Lake Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville on Monday evening from 5. p.m. until time of service. Following the service, there will be a lunch provided at the United Methodist Church in Pardeeville, served by the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid of Friesland, in which Erma was a lifetime member.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Jane) Schumann Sr. of Portage; daughter, Kathleen (Brian) Lytle of Pardeeville; step-daughters, Alice (Duane) Grams of Dalton and Darlene Dreyer of Friesland; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Williams; special friends; other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; sons, Victor Schumann and Wayne Ebert; step son-in-law, Clarence Butch Dreyer, step granddaughter, Susan (Grams) Schwochert; step great grandson, Lee Grams; three brothers, Walter, Rudolph and Robert; two sisters, Ruby Woodman and Victory Susie Williams; three sisters-in-law and one brother in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Erma's name.
