Nell Marie Breidenbach

Nell Marie (Nero) Breidenbach passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the age of 91. She was born in Tacoma on December 15, 1910, the first child of John and Lisa Nero to be born in the United States. Her parents immigrated from Norway in 1909, coming on the 'Mauritania' to New York and then by train to Tacoma with her brothers Arthur, William and Oscar and sister Margaret Nero Fifer, all deceased. Nell's younger brother, Edwin, also preceded her in death. Her sister Ruth Nero survives her.

Nell graduated from Lincoln High School in 1928 and, in 1933, married Fred A. Breidenbach, who passed away in 1982. Together they owned the Proctor Upholstery for 27 years. Nell was a member of Mason United Methodist Church and the Tacoma Orthopedic Association. Her greatest interest was her family and teaching them her Scandinavian heritage and traditions, that are now continued on by her children and grandchildren. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Nell is survived by her son Fred and his wife Susan of Olympia; her daughter Marilyn and her husband Clark Duvall of Lakewood; her grandsons, Craig Duvall and his wife Desiree, also of Lakewood, Robert Breidenbach and his wife Tracy of Palm Desert, CA; and granddaughters Leslie and her husband David Kantor of Rancho Mirage, CA and Carrie and her husband John Trapp of Poulsbo. She is also survived by great-grand-sons Cameron, Conrad, Corbin, Kyle and Cody; and great-granddaughters Taylor, Tiffany, Tatum and Sarah Jane. The family wishes to thank those who cared for her at the Narrows Glen, Laurel House and at ManorCare. We thank you for your love, care and concern.

Private family services have been held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mary Bridge Chil- dren#s Hospital, c/o Tacoma Ortho- pedic Association, PO Box 5299, Tacoma, WA 98415-0299; the Casey Eye Institute, c/o Oregon Health Sciences University, 3375 SW Terwilliger Blvd., Portland, OR 97201-4197; or a charity of your choice.
