ORRTANNA Louise E. (Ness) Hewitt, 65, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late David L. Hewitt. At the request of Louise, there will be no service. Born August 7, 1945 in York, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Lovia E. (Raver) Ness. She worked for 14 years as an apple picker in Orrtanna. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family, especially at the holidays. Louise will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Louise is survived by a son, Stanley R. Bolen, Jr. and his wife Toni M. of New Oxford; a daughter, Holly A. Demmitt of Goldsboro; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Hewitt of New Oxford; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. In addition to her late husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by her brother, Howard L. Ness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Louise's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 Second St., New Freedom, is in charge of arrangements.
