Edward Neville, 87, formerly of Belleville, Ill., born May 1, 1920, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Oct. 29, 2007, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Chesterfield, Mo., where he resided for the last year.

Edward "Ed" graduated from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1950, and enjoyed the practice of law in the bi-state area until his retirement in 1985. For the duration of his legal career, Ed was a member of the Illinois Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, St. Clair County Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and The Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He was a resident of Belleville, Ill., and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for 42 years.

Ed was most proud of his service to his country and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp; he flew B-29's during World War II.

He contributed greatly to his community as a member and a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, member and a past president of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, and as a past member of the Lion's Club of East St. Louis.

For 58 years, Ed was devoted to his wife "Jean" who preceded him in death. He was a loving father, an anchor and inspiration to his children, Kathleen (WIlliam) Wimmer III of Belleville, Ill., John (Cindy) Neville of Smithton, Ill., Jeannemarie (Thomas) Wobbe of Belleville, Ill., James (Carol) Neville of Belleville, Ill., and Mark (Christine) Neville of St. Louis, Mo. They will remember him for his unconditional love and devotion to their mother.

Ed was so very proud of his 14 grandchildren, Jennifer (Thomas) Daulton, Brian (Renee) Neville, Melissa (Bradley) Mason, Lisa (David) Viet, Carrie (Jeffery) Plummer, Shawn (Kara) Neville, Lauren Wimmer, Jared (Adrianne) Neville, Suzanne (Ryan) Tribout, Amanda Wobbe, Khristopher Wangelin, Patirck (fiancee, Jennifer) Neville, Ryan Neville and Evan Neville, His grandchildren were deeply blessed by his presence in their lives. Edward's legacy will continue on with his 10 great-grandchildren, Jack and Mark Mason, Matthew, Abigail and William Daulton, Cameron, Conner and Carter Viet and Ethan and Emily Plummer.

Edward Neville lived a vibrant, productive and very complete life. He was deeply loved and respected by his wife, family and friends. He will be remembered for his integrity, strength, commitment to his relationships and last, but not least, his beautiful tenor voice, which brought great joy and pleasure to so many.

Ed's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Sunrise of Chesterfield, Mo., for providing their father and grandfather with compassionate and loving care during the last year of his life. Ed formed new bonds and made many new friends. It is a testament to his life that even in his dying; Ed continued to make a difference in the lives of his extended family.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Pkwy W, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, from Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 8707 West Main, Belleville, Ill. with Father Jack McEvilly officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Ill.
