Betty was born in Oregon City to her parents, Gladys and Jo Van Newhouse. She lived in the Portland area all her life and will be remembered for her work ethic, quick wit, flamboyant personality and generosity toward others. As a cocktail waitress, Betty opened the lounges of some of the most prestigious hotels in Portland; the Hilton, Sheraton, Jade West and in the top of Cosmo. She was a realtor and operated adult care homes for many years. She provided love and security for those needing care. Betty lived her life with an elegant grace and everlasting love for her savior. Her legacy will live on through the great love she had for her family and friends. Betty is survived by her son and caregiver, Jerry Dopkins; sister, Delores Mcgriff Farestrand; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
