Youngest son of Dr. James Nisbet and Penelope Cooper Nisbet. He was named for an older brother by the same name that was born in 1801 and died the same year of his birth (1822). After the death of his parents, he was taken in by his elder brother, Eugenius A. Nisbet. He attended Franklin College ( University of GA ) and graduated in 1840. He never married.
