Barbara Barron

If you recently heard the sounds of angels singing, it was because a wonderful friend, mother, grandmother, and best friend earned her wings and was welcomed as she soared from this earth bound for her new home in heaven.

Barbara Allen Barron left us on Monday, October 14, 2013 just before 9 am. She left behind her husband, care-giver and best friend, Ray Barron, who will forever cherish a lifetime of memories they made together until they meet again in paradise. They were married for over 56 years.

She also leaves behind 3 loving sons and 1 daughter, and their families: Donald Barron and wife Julie of Bastrop, Texas; Mark Barron and wife Carol of Paige, Texas; Brian Barron and his wife Judy of Thorndale, Texas; and Anita Barron of McAlester, Oklahoma.

She was blessed with many grandchildren including Adam Barron, Kristen Barron Mitchell, Mark Kyle Barron, Bret Barron, Tyler Barron, Megan Barron, Erin Barron, Cameron Barron, Dane Barron and Ashleigh Conway, and Dillon Conway. She will be missed by her sister, Doris Carlson of Thrall, Texas as well as her brother Gene Northcott and his wife, Betty of San Gabriel, Texas. She also leaves behind many friends and family that will miss her as well.

Barbara was born in a small community known as Friendship, just outside of Granger, Texas. Her early school years were spent in San Gabriel, Texas where she lived on the family farm. She finished her schooling in Thorndale, Texas where she dated and later married her sweetheart, Ray. In their early years, they lived in Waco, Crockett, and Austin, Texas. They made a home for many years in Bastrop where they were active in their church, school and community where they made many life-long friends. They retired to San Gabriel, Texas. They traveled together after raising their children enjoying the time they had together.

Together, she and Ray fought a valiant fight against Alzheimer's for nearly 10 years. Barbara never met a stranger and always had a smile or kind word for those she met. She was an excellent cook and wonderful comforter. She could always find the silver lining in the darkest of clouds. While the disease may have claimed her body over time, those who knew her best can tell you her heart will always belong to her husband and her soul remains eternally with her Lord.
