Hester O'Leary Harvey was the youngest daughter of Daniel O'Leary, a well known pedistrian who won many walking competitions and set records, and his wife, Ann Boland O'Leary. Both her parents were born in Ireland. Her father was born in County Cork. Hester had two sisters and a brother. She married Thomas Monroe Harvey on July 25, 1909.
