MRS. "G.R.C." ADAMS.
Another old resident fell asleep, last Saturday morning at 11 o'clock in the person of Mrs. Henrietta Adams more familiarly known as the widow of the late "G. R. C." Adams. The deceased has been ailing for years, but not bedridden or helpless. Up to within a few hours of her decease she passed from room to room and took her place at the dining table. Since her husband's death, Mrs. Adams has divided nearly all her residence with her two daughters, Mrs. D. Russell and Mrs. C. A. Towne, with the former in winter and the latter in summer. The latter years have been like the former. Mrs. Adams has led a busy life. A faithful wife and loved companion, a beloved mother and counselor, competent housekeeper and hospitable entertainer, she yet found time to enrich her memory with the choice gems of literature and the almost lost art of fancy needlework. Only a few days ago when a friend was taking leave of her she quoted an appropriate piece of poetry in response to their conversation. Cheery patient and full of work, practical and fanciful, with her faculties clear and interest in all around her keen; this well-known and respected resident has entered upon her eternal reward. The funeral was held from the residence of D. I. Russell, where she passed away, this afternoon conducted by Rev. S. Pearson. A large attendance of relatives and friends of the deceased were present. Mesdames C. W. Cu…aw and S. Pearson and Miss Zoe Wells furnished the following music: "Nearer Is Home" and "Sometime the Silver Cord Will Break." Interment was in the family lot in that Oak Grove cemetery. The deceased was a member of the famous Olin family which takes for figures to number it today. Form the history of the family three by our local historian, Mr. George S. Ny, we take the following facts:
Mrs. G.R.C. Adams (Henrietta Olin) was in born in Perry, Wyoming Co.; N.Y. August 3, 1825, where she lived with her parents until 1834. The next year their home was formed in Franklin, Portage Co., Ohio. Here she attended school and taught school. She was married Oct. 8, 1843, from this home to George R. C. Adams. In May 1862 they moved to their well-known farm in Comstock township, residing there with brief exception until 1890. Five years ago, the 17th of March her husband died. The deceased leaves three children, Hepsie Ann, Mrs. D. I. Russell, Milo O. Adams and S. Antoinette, Mrs. C.A. Town besides numerous relative and friends to keep her memory green.
