Maria Del Socorro Ontiveros De Machado, age 80, of Dougherty, passed away, Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Mass of a Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Floydada with Father Ike Temporanza officiating. Interment to follow at the Floydada Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Funeral Home in Floydada.
Maria was born August 20, 1936 to Octaviano and Guadalupe (Hernandez) Ontiveros. Maria married Antonio Machado on November 26, 1951 in Mexico. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Floydada. She enjoyed singing and also enjoyed the presence of her grandchildren-all of whom she loved very much. She was a very caring and loving mother and grandmother. Maria was a very strong and courageous woman as she fought her battle with cancer since she was diagnosed a year and a half ago. She fought hard till the end. She never once gave up. A beautiful example for all of us to follow, as she remained strong in her faith. She will forever remain in our hearts and will be greatly missed. There is a deep void we feel in our hearts but are consoled by the fact that she no longer suffers and is now reunited with our father and creator.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Antonio Machado Sr., a daughter, Antonia Machado, son, Alfredo Machado, brother, Eulalio Ontiveros, a sister, Margarita Ontiveros and parents; Octaviano and Guadalupe Ontiveros.
Maria is survived by four daughters; Maria De Jesus Machado of Dougherty, Elena and son-in-law Robert Cervera of Floydada, Alice and son-in-law Oscar Degollado of Dougherty, Lupe and son-in law Gabriel Delafuente of Floydada, 5 sons; Antonio Machado Jr. of Dougherty, Gilbert and daughter-in-law Imelda Machado of Dougherty, Abel and daughter-in-law Neomi Machado of Floydada, Mark and daughter-in-law Dolorez Machado of Floydada, Eddy and daughter-in-law Amber Machado of Dougherty, 18 grandchildren, 2 sisters; San Juana Ontiveros and Lorenza Ontiveros, both of Mexico and lots of nieces and nephews.
