Gloria O. Gonzalez, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Lexington House in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Gloria was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a pioneering, loving and compassionate soul; always open minded, with a generous heart and a most insightful view of life. A citizen of the world, she was engaged and involved in the many communities in which she resided. She enjoyed music, gardening, and bridge. Her passion was her family, her faith and her friends.
Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Pedro G. Gonzalez; and sister, Josephine Ontiveros Lopez.
Gloria was a devoted mother to her six children: Nydia G. Freedman and her husband, Robin, of Alexandria, LA, Gloria G. Sardinas of New York, NY, Rosario G. Comas and her husband, Alberto, of Ocala, FL, Peter G. Gonzalez and his wife, Susan, of New York, NY, Guillermo J. Gonzalez and his wife Suzanne, of Austin, TX, and George A. Gonzalez of San Antonio, TX. She was much loved and most involved in the lives of her grandchildren: Andrea Freedman Skipsey and her husband, James, Amelie and Robert Freedman; Natalia Sardinas Abdy and her husband, Anthony, Zef Sardinas, Juan Comas and his wife, Jessica, Sara Comas, Mercedes, Marisol and Andres Gonzalez, and George Gonzalez and his wife, Melissa. She was fortunate to have six great grandchildren children, Alejandro, Andreas, and Adrian Abdy, Patricia and Peter Comas, and Cristian Gonzalez. Gloria is also survived by her sister-in-law, Olga Gonzalez, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Her life was blessed with a large number of loving friends.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate and caring staff of Lexington House, CHRISTUS Hospice Care, and Dr. Kelly Letsinger for their excellent attention.
