Josefina Ontiveros Gonzales’ beautiful life ended peacefully on August 31, 2015. She was 92 years old.

Josefina was born December 30, 1922, in Tampico Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Paulino and Augustina Ontiveros. Josie moved to Texas in 1944 and met Juan A. Gonzales in San Antonio, TX. They married in 1946 in San Benito, TX. Together they raised 4 children.

Josie is survived by her daughters, Norma (Richard) Martinez of Grandville, MI, Sandra (Johnny) Naylor of Corpus Christi, TX, and Santa (Edward) Dinn of Corpus Christi, TX. Josie is preceded in death by her son, Juan J. Gonzales and her husband Juan. A. Gonzales.

Josie was proud of her family and honored to be “Grandma Shorty” as she was affectionately called by many. She had 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Josie was an active member of Senior Friends and volunteered her time sewing blankets and bonnets for newborn babies. She was a very gifted crafter, expert gardener and a joyful cook. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her family in Mexico and Michigan.

Josefina was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
