DIED - In this town [Amherst NH], on Monday last, MRS. MARY O. AIKEN, consort of Rev. SILAS AIKEN, aged 32. Mrs. A. had been of feeble health for some time past, but her disease, having fastened upon her system, within the few last weeks made rapid progress to a dissolution of her earthly tabernacle. Although evident to herself and to all around her, that she must soon bid adieu to all earthly scenes and prospects, she calmly and patiently waited her appointed time. Having stayed herself upon her Saviour, in full confidence of his merits and mediation, and of an interest in the redemption purchased by his blood, she glided peacefully down to her end, being sustained to the last moment, in the hope of a resurrection to life eternal with him in heaven. Her bereaved companion, in his heavy affliction, can only look for support and guidance for himself, and protection for his young, tender and motherless children, to that merciful God, to whom he has so often had occasion to point and lead others in like circumstances, as the only sure source of consolation and help. [The Farmers' Cabinet, 12 Feb 1836]
