Eunice (Palmer) Golas, 90, of 243 Leominster Road, died peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2008 in her home after an illness.

Her husband of 64 years, Walter F. Golas, died in 2004. She leaves two daughters, Mary A. Sund of Sterling and Vivian L. Pratt with whom she lived; a brother, Clyde Palmer of Sterling; 10 grandchildren, Irene Sund and her husband Dana Waterman, Sarah, Ben, Gregory and Terry Sund, Tammy Paparella, Deborah Pearson, Chris, Suzanne and Charles Golas; a great-grandson, Noah Waterman; a daughter-in-law, Angie Golas of Leominster; many nieces and nephews. Her son, Francis W. Golas, and two brothers, Elmore and William Palmer, predeceased her. She was born in Dover, New Hampshire, the daughter of William T. and Vivian (Cobleigh) Palmer and lived over 70 years in Sterling.

Mrs. Golas graduated from Leominster High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at the Boston Lying Inn, Memorial Hospital, and practiced private duty nursing. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Sterling Garden Club. She also enjoyed camping, vacationing in Florida, and volunteering as a den mother for the Sterling Cub Scouts.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
