A hand written memo written by Viola Josephine Perrine Ansted prior to her death in 1983 which apparently was intended to be her obituary.

"Viola Josephine Perrine Ansted was born at Rives Junction, Michigan, March 19th, 1886 to Eugene & Josephine Perrine. In 1902 she with her parents, brothers & sister moved to Jackson, Mich. where she graduated from H. S. and taught two years in Jackson Co. - Cook & Draper Schools - She then attended Normal School at Ypsilanti receiving her life certificate to teach in 1911.

"She specialized in Kindergarten. Instructed the Kg. in the Ecorse Public School. She also taught Kg. in Greenland & Muskegon Hts. Taught the Smith School near Rives Jct.

"Married Rev. O. B. Ansted 1923 & became pastor & wife of the Baptist ch. at Rives. Other pastorates, Harbor Beach, Kalkaska (also teaching Kg.), Rollin, N. Rome, Wolverine, Eau Clare, a year in teaching again at Webberville 2nd grad, S. Branch & then Charlevoix, retiring at Topinabee.

"She was always active in Mission Societies & the church aids. Was member of Harbor Beach Woman's Club, Wolverine 7 Eau Claire Women's clubs. President of the Grand Traverse Baptist Women & President of the U. C. W. of Cheboygan Co. for two years. Was Counselor of the La-Ha-Ho Campfire girls in Jackson Co. Interested in Community Work such as the Red Cross, etc.

"Surviving are her husband Rev. ansted, two sons, Philip of Flint & Albert of Cheybogan, Two step-children, Harold of Royal Oak & Iva (Mrs. Kimble) of Toledo - Two brothers - Arthur of Rives Junction & Richard of jackson & one sister Phebe (Mrs. A. Chanel) of Battle Creek. 9 grand children & 4 g. grand children, besides many other relatives."

"Of Grand Rapids, formerly of Rives Junction, passed away at Butterworth Hospital, Friday, December 9, 1983, aged 97 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend O. B. Ansted and a son, Harold. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. iva Kimble of Toledo; two sons, Philip G. of Burton, Mich. and Albert W. of Whitmore Lake; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Topinabee Community Church of Cheboygan and was founder of the United Women of Northern Michigan, active in many church and civic organizations and programs including the Campfire Girls. Was a school teacher having taught in several schools throughout the state. Mrs. Ansted is at Patience-Montgomery-Luecht Funeral home, 109 Church St., Leslie where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 10:a.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, The Reverend Jack Harris officiating."
