Vergie Perry Brookshire, 88, of 24 West Main Street — Woodside, died March 3, 2002, at Westside Nursing Center.

Born in Pelzer, she was the wife of the late O.B. Brookshire and the daughter of the late Sanford Postal and Hattie Selma Duncan Perry. She was a member of Woodside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Surviving are three daughters, Lois Griffith and her husband Milward of Greenville, Sarah Vehorn of Greenville and Doris Wilson of Garden City; one son, Dennis Brookshire and his wife Katherine of Greenville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jennie Barton of Greenville, Dorothy Barton of Greenville and Edna Canup of Piedmont; and a devoted sister-in-law, Ethel Perry. She was predeceased by three brothers, Eugene, Willard and Harold Perry.

Services will be Tuesday, 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest by the Rev. Ronnie Williams. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 to 2:45 p.m. with burial at Graceland Cemetery, West. Honorary pallbearers will be friends from Woodside Baptist Church.
