SAVANNAH, GA. - CMSgt William “Bill” Bernard Podres Sr., United States Air Force (Ret.), age 87, of Savannah, passed away on Friday morning, November 27th 2020 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga.

Bill was born on June 17th 1933 in Witherbee, N.Y., he was the son of the late Benedict Dominic and Anna Mary (Tartaras) Podres.

He graduated from Mineville High School Class of 1951.

He served in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard from 1953 until his retirement attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

Bill worked as a federal civilian for 30+ years until his retirement.

He married Mary "Fran" Frances (Callahan) Podres and together they raised their five children in Savannah, Georgia. Together they had five children; four daughters and one son. She predeceased him on January 13th 2008.

He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers; Joseph "Joe" G. Podres, Stephen "Steve" Joseph Podres Sr., and Bernard "Smock" John Podres, Felix Michael Deresky, and John "Shorty" F. Deresky, and two sisters; Stella R. (Podres) Rosselli and Rose Ann (Deresky) O'Dell.

Arrangements by the Gamble Funeral Service Inc. on 410 Stephenson Avenue in Savannah, Ga.

A private funeral service with full military honors will be held at the graveside at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, Ga.
