Per Folsom Telegraph, June 6, 1903,Death of Edward Pointer-Edward Pointer of Clarksville died Tuesday at Deer Park, near Truckee, where he had gone just a few days before to remain for the summer. His death was rather sudden and unexpected. For several weeks he had not been feeling well and on the day of his death he was ill only a few hours. It is thought that his heart was affected by the high altitude. Deceased was a native of Portland, Oregon and aged 48 years, 6 months and 12 days. He had made his home for many years with his uncle, John Tong, and his family at Clarksville, where he was well known and had many friends. Mr Pointer was secretary of the Plumas Mining Co. and his duties as such kept him in San Francisco much of the time. The remains were brought to Clarksville and his funeral took place from the Tong home. It was largely attended, interment being in the Clarksville Cemetery. Rev. Wentzell of Placerville conducted the funeral service.
