Obituary: Unidentified News clipping - 1891

CRAW.--Deborah Porter, mother of the Rev George C. Francis, of New York Conference, was born in Broome, Schoharie County, New York,November 9, 1806, and died in the triumph of faith February 16, 1891, at sugar Loaf, Orange County, New York. She was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church in 1819, when 13, and had been a consistent and devout member more than seventy-one years. Locating in Catskill, New York, when Methodism was in it infancy, she immediately interested herself in church work, and labored with untiring zeal for the Master's cause and the promotion of scriptural holiness. In that home was found the prophet's chamber, and many were the servants of God cordially entertained. In 1825 she married Samuel Francis, with whom she lived happily for many years, but death severed the bond, and in 1860 she was married to the Rev. Lyman Craw, whom she also outlived.
