June 2, 1928 - September 30, 2007 Lehigh Acres, FL - Doris C. Avery, formerly of Ellenville, and a Dietitian for the Ellenville Regional Hospital, died September 30, 2007, at her daughter's home in Huguenot, N.Y. She was 79. The daughter of Archie and Eva Irwin Porter, she was born June 2, 1928, in Hancock, N.Y. She was the widow of Elmer "Bummie" Avery, Jr. Doris was a member of the Church of St. Mary & St. Andrew in Ellenville, N.Y. Survivors include six sons: Michael, Anthony and James Avery of Ellenville, Joseph Avery of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wayne and Reggie Avery of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; five daughters: Kim Avery of Napanoch, Robbin Schatz of Huguenot, Charlene Vasquez and Peggy Avery of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Judith Whitman of Texas; two sisters, Bernice Krom and Agnes Connor of Ellenville; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Avery; three sisters: Ruth Hutchinson, Patrica Chido and Beverley Elliott, and a brother, Edward Porter. Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, N.Y. on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 5, at the funeral home with the Rev. John Budwick officiating. Burial will be in the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville. Contributions in Doris' name may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 35 Orchard St., White Plains, NY 10603.
