She led a very full and active life devoted to her family and serving her fraternity. In 2006, the Cornell University chapter of Alpha Chi Omega honored Louise for her 75 years of membership in the Fraternity.
Born October 31, 1912 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Lee Vernon and Nellie Mae (Stearns) Porter of Nevada, Missouri. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia, and then by her husband K.G. in 1999. Louise married Kenneth Gordon Baird on August 22, 1937.
Louise is survived by her children Marjorie (Morley) Smith of Freeville; her sons Richard (Cheryl) Baird of Norcross, Georgia and Philip (Linda) Baird of Ft Worth, Texas; her 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 4 nephews, 3 nieces, and sister-in-law Frances (James) Young of Palo Alto, California.
At Louise's request, there will be no services. Burial will be a private family event at the Willow Glen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Louise's name to the Salvation Army, 150 N. Albany Street, Ithaca, NY 14850 or to the charity of your choice. Perkins Funeral Home assisted the family.
