Louise Powers Benesch, 80, an area resident since 1983 who was a former writer and Connecticut businesswoman, died of emphysema Jan. 22 at her home in Falls Church.
Mrs. Benesch, who was born in New Mexico, served with the WACs in Europe during World War II. She had been a securities analyst for a Boston bank and had operated her own secretarial service in Connecticut before coming here.
She also had ghost written, helped research, and edited several books on military topics. These included "From Frigate to Dreadnaught," which was published in the 1960s and for which she was research editor.
She had been a co-mason in Le Droit Humain, a Masonic organization.
Her husband, Walter A. Benesch, died in 1962. Survivors include a son, Walter P., of Falls Church; and two granddaughters.
